WE WENT TO THE BEACH.

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

It is coming up on our second anniversary, which turned out to be the hottest day of the year. The weather gods are giving us an anniverary present: they are reminding us of our love, by giving us the the same triple-digit temperatures. So, like everyone else in the metro area, we went to the beach for the day.

TLW points out that The Gus is a Libra, just as she is — a water sign. But clearly an affinity for sand goes hand in hand with his horoscopic affinity for water. No specific descriptions necessary.
water makes him happy, sand makes him ecstatic.

They let me eat sand and sticks! This is a travesty!

AND TIME MARCHES ON.

I swore to get a digital SLR, so we did. Eric was right–a large component of taking more good pictures is just taking an enormous quantity of pictures, from which some portion will prove out, but the much better equipment makes the portion which are keepers bigger. In just a couple of evenings with our new Nikon D50, we have taken some 430 pix, mostly of The Gus. And while we are just getting the hang of things, yes, the quality is amazing.

To The Gus, then. He is nine months old. We had his nine-month pediatrician appointment, at which the hottie doctor (knocked up herself, by the by) pronounced The Gus to be small for his age, in the twentieth percentile. But he is healthy as a horse and developing perfectly. So he is healthy as a pretty puny horse. We’ll take it. To the pictures:

Trina immediately went for the art shot.

And the familiar “The Gus as tabula rasa” shot.
innocent? I epitomize innocence.

She also got the classic stoner shot.
me and Azzy just burned a fatty.

The Gus loves mealtimes now.
I feed myself!

Luckily, he also loves bathtime.
bow down before the holy pillar of water!

His grandma Mary got him a kiddie pool, and I tried out some of the fast shutter speeds on the camera.

TEETHS!

The Gus is no longer a toothless little grub. Instead, he now sports two massive chompers. He finally worked them through the gum by chewing on a shopping cart at Lowe’s. Sanitation is for weaker babies than our The Gus.
